Legal Aid of Sonoma County – LASC is the County’s largest provider of legal services for low-income residents, especially on housing issues. Legal Aid’s housing team has deep expertise in tenant-landlord law and has been active in amending the local tenant protection ordinances, including at the County level and in Petaluma. Legal Aid would likely lead, both in advocacy and assisting the city attorney in drafting a proposed ordinance, likely based on previous ordinances in the region. Legal Aid has been behind all previous local ordinances in one capacity or another and has a wealth of experience in this arena.
City of Sonoma – The City will necessarily have to agree, through the City Council, to pass an ordinance.
Sonoma County Tenants Union – Local organization, housed at North Bay Organizing Project, that mobilizes tenants and has been behind both ordinances that have passed in the County so far.
