Housing Land Trust of the North Bay. The mission of HLT is to provide home ownership opportunities to low- and moderate-income families while ensuring permanent housing affordability through the use of a land trust model. HLT has over 100 properties in Sonoma and Napa counties, including in Sonoma Valley. Properties can be transferred to HLT after being acquired by another entity. HLT can also manage affordable units for developers.

  • Potentially, Common Space Community Land Trust, a smaller CLT with projects in Sebastopol and Healdsburg which “permanently removes land from the speculative real estate market and protects affordable housing – forever. CommonSpace CLT also has a deep commitment to ecological stewardship and onsite democratic governance.

Potentially, the larger Northern California Land Trust. NCLT develops, acquires, and rehabs housing; sells affordable condominiums and single-family homes; leases offices and homes to non-profit organizations, cooperatives, and co-housing communities; rents affordable apartments to low-income households; and governs and stewards properties in partnership with residents and community members. NCLT currently stewards 118 permanently affordable units across 22 properties, mostly in the Bay Area, none so far in Sonoma Valley.
