This effort should be led by Legal Aid of Sonoma County, potentially in partnership with an attorney who often provides eviction services.
Legal Aid of Sonoma County – Legal Aid is the County’s largest provider of legal services for low-income residents, especially on housing issues. Legal Aid’s housing team has deep expertise in tenant-landlord law. Legal Aid already does housing “know your rights” trainings on request throughout the County. It also has a weekly presence at La Luz Center, for on-site legal intakes, including on housing issues, which could be expanded.
Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California – FHANC is the designated provider of fair housing legal services for Sonoma, Napa, and Marin counties.
California Rural Legal Assistance – CRLA is a statewide, nonprofit law firm that assists Sonoma County residents with some eviction protection services. CRLA, like Legal Aid, has deep expertise in housing law.
La Luz Center – Services center in The Springs with meeting rooms familiar to the Latino and Spanish-speaking community that is good for in-person educational events.
