• North Bay Organizing Project / Sonoma County Tenants Union – Active in efforts to get a rental registry in Petaluma. Organizes political support among renters.

  • Sonoma County – A rental registry would require coordination among multiple County departments and City governments. The Sonoma County Community Development Commission is the County agency that runs many social programs targeted at tenants, including the County’s Housing Authority and program’s that monitor deed-restricted housing units. They are a major utilizer of rental registry data. Permit Sonoma, the County’s planning agency, and potentially the County Administrator’s Office, would be responsible for monitoring non-deed-restricted, market-rate rentals.

  • City of Sonoma and hopefully additional cities, potentially organized through the existing Napa-Sonoma Collaborative.

  • 3Di – A company that operates several rental registries around the state, including in San Francisco, Oakland, and unincorporated LA County. 3Di has given a quote to Sonoma County for a rental registry, putting the estimated cost at less than $5 per rental unit per year. 3Di can explain rental registries and offer models that already work.

  • Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment – Builds campaigns statewide for rights for renters. Has been involved in many campaigns for eviction protections and rental registries.

  • Western Center on Law & Poverty – Non-profit, statewide law firm that works on issues affecting low-income people in California, especially housing justice. Can provide input on implementing rental registries in other jurisdictions, including successes and potential legal hurdles.
