California Department of Housing & Community Development – HCD mandates certain aspects of preservation that can be leveraged by the coalition (including a 12-month offer to purchase letter to local, qualified entities prior to sale of an affordable complex)

California Housing Partnership – A statewide nonprofit that assists in strategizing and securing funding for affordable housing preservation

National Housing Law Project – Non-profit law firm that has a strong history of advising on preservation strategies from a legal standpoint.

National Low Income Housing Coalition – National non-profit that tracks affordable housing production and preservation. NLIHC has deep knowledge of preservation efforts around the country and which models work best.

Novogradac – National (for-profit) company that has one of the most robust portfolios of affordable housing clients and advises on compliance and strategy. Their services include non-profit consulting. Novogradac or a similar entity may be helpful to advise on potential purchase or transitioning from a mortgage-based subsidy to the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit.

Redwood Credit Union  or other local finance entity – A purchase will require financing that may necessitate the involvement of a third-party bank to underwrite a loan
